Packing the Essentials for your Cruise

Aren't you excited? Your cruise to that exotic destination is coming up soon! No work for a few days. You get to leave some of the everyday worries behind. But you do have one worry now - what to pack!

Are you one of those types of people who play the "ennie meenie miney moe" game when it comes to what is going in your suitcase? You need a plan! Paying double or triple the amount of the price for a toothbrush is not a great way to start your trip.

Let's start with the documentation and paperwork. No matter what kind of trip you take, you always have to deal with that kind of thing. First of all, you have to have some sort of identification. If you are remaining in the United States, make sure you have your driver's license. Depending on your out of the country destinations, you may require a current passport or visa. Be sure to confirm with your cruise line ahead of time what you will need. The same applies with vaccination records and medical insurance documentation.

You're going to buy souvenirs, right? Make sure you have your credit cards and/or debit card. Traveler's checks are also convenient and accepted most anywhere. As with any vacation destination, you have to be careful of pickpockets or thieves. Carry contact numbers to report lost or stolen credit cards in a separate location from where you store your cards. Another handy thing to carry with you is a prepaid phone card. Making calls from the cruise ship can be pricey!

Personal essentials and medication also need to be considered in your packing efforts. Do you wear reading glasses or prescription glasses? Make sure you bring an

As I began looking at the product, it became clear to me what an incredible tool this is and how much work it must have been to develop it. I love to learn something new so much that I wanted to drop you a line and say thank you. I would have paid $100.00 for this product its that good and important to have. Thank you very much.

extra set just in case something gets lost or broken. If you wear contact lenses, don't forget to bring a few extra pair as well as your cleaning solution! Sunglasses are an essential, especially if you are heading toward a sunny destination. Prescription medications are a must. You may have to carry a doctor's note with you to confirm that you have the prescription legitimately. Packing a small first aid kit with band aids, motion sickness medications, antibiotics and aspirin will get you through any minor mishaps. Sunscreen and wet wipes are also handy.

A cruise isn't a cruise unless you have your camera to capture those memorable moments. If you decide on bringing a digital camera, be prepared with extra batteries, memory sticks and a battery charger. If you plan on making contact with the folks back home, take your cell phone, along with an extra battery. Be sure to call your cell phone provider and ask about temporarily extending your calling coverage. You can get special rates when traveling outside your normal calling area.

Other useful items to pack include a small sewing kit, a Swiss army knife (check for any rules about this) and even those individual stain removal wipes. Of course, all of this stuff is just the general essentials for your cruise. You still have to decide on appropriate clothing, shoes, jewelry and hats. Oh and there's also your toothpaste and toothbrush, shampoo, make-up, soap, hairdryer and other primping necessities. Remember to leave some room in your suitcase for souvenirs. And whatever you do, do not think about all that fun you are going to have unpacking all this stuff when you get home!
